1964 MSc. in El.Eng. Pilsen. From 1964 at Dept. of Cybernetics (Pilsen). 1981 PhD in Comp.Sc. Prague. 1988 - 1990 assoc. prof. at Dept. of Comp. Sc. and Eng. (Pilsen). 1990 - 1992 deputy of Federal Assembly. 1993 - 2008 head of Comp. Sc. and Eng. Dept. Now prof. at CS&E Dept.
Research interests: Theory of formal languages and compilers, operating systems theory, programming languages, database and knowledge-base systems. Recently he is interested in Web mining and text mining problems as a coordinator of the national research project COT-SEWing (Complex Knowledge Base Tools for Natural Language Communication with the Semantic Web). Program committee member (ISIM, DATASEM, Znalosti, ELPUB conferences). Member of ACM, IEEE Comp. Soc., scientific councils of faculty, commission for state examination and PhD defence at TU Prague.
